Mentone Americana Nights: Summer Concerts Strike a Chord

After crowd-pleasing shows in June and July, Mentone’s Americana Nights series returns on August 30 with another memorable evening under the stars — this time featuring The George Britt Band, with special guests Jess + Tony Goggans, and Kat Hunter.

Kicking off the series earlier this summer, Moon Lake Campus welcomed enthusiastic audiences to the Shigley Amphitheater. Americana Nights is all about simple joys — great tunes, delicious eats, and gathering with friends. Beyond the music, visitors can stroll through the artisan shops and galleries that make the Moon Lake Campus a creative hub, and enjoy Cajun and Creole fare from Moon Lake Kitchen.

“Mentone is a place where art, music, and good times come naturally,” said Mayor Rob Hammond. “With Americana Nights, we’re creating more than a concert series — we’re building a new way to share the best of our mountain town. It’s an open invitation to celebrate what makes this place feel like home.”

The George Britt Band

Known for his emotionally resonant voice and timeless storytelling, George Britt is an Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame honoree who blends country, rock, and blues into a sound that’s both powerful and deeply personal. George, along with wife Joann and son Joseph, once ran the beloved Lowell Opry House near Carrollton, Georgia — selling out shows and building a devoted community of fans. Now they’re taking their talent on the road.

Kat Hunter

Kat is a country artist whose journey in music began with church performances and talent shows before blossoming into a passion for songwriting. After honing her craft in Nashville, she eventually returned closer to her roots, where she continues to create original songs while championing local musicians. Her father, storyteller Fred Hunter, who appears on Simply Southern TV and is host of Fred Hunter’s Alabama, will introduce her onstage.
